Defragment your PC, this will clear up files that are spread all over the place. Disk Cleanup is also pretty good for cleaning up temp files and such.

Use spybot to check for any spyware on there, anti-virus for any viruses, ect...

Hope this helps!

You need to check for viruses, malware, etc. I'm assuming you have all of these utilities but if you don't there's some good freeware on the web such as what's been mentioned above. Spybot, adaware, etc and you could also go to trend and do a free virus scan there. I think it's called House call. You could also go to microsoft and use their malicious spyware removal tool which is available on their site and is also free. I would also download any windows/office updates and relevant service packs. Additionally, as has been mentioned, I would run a disk cleanup and run a scan disk and degrag.

you would typically check the storage on each PC, like with servers, what is in use, how much growth and project when that space might run out.

You would also check for anti-virus, spy and mal ware and that the databases are all up to date

Check for potential problems / issues within the event logs

performance issues, how much utilisation is taken up by the processor, memory and other devices. find bottlenecks etc.

You can proactively monitor with free software such as spiceworks but i am sure there are many others.

Hope that helps?
