    pc lock accessing Word files from browse

    Hi,
    I have a client that installed a Nikon camera with software and it appears to have installed quicktime. The computer began locking up right after the install. The client then tried cleaning it out in safemode and uninstalled the camera.They uninstalled Quicktime. Now when they try and open any file using the browse feature and select my computer it will lock up. It only locks if they pick my computer.

      I take it that we are talking XP here if so Quicktime shouldn’t prove any problems. Though it may be an older version of Quicktime and you may need to install a newer version.

      If that doesn’t help have a look at the software that came with the camera sometimes that have USB Drivers included which mess up things quite badly.

      But have you made sure that all the camera software has been removed?

      Quite often when you install something it leaves links deep in Windows and when you remove it these links remain causing problems and some of the items [b]Can Not[/b] be removed easily things like USB Drivers and the like. For this you’ll need to go to the Device Manager and remove the USB Devices and reboot at which point Windows will throw up a New Hardware Found Wizard and reinstall the older drivers.

      You’ll also need to run a registry cleaner just to make sure that there is nothing left in there causing problems. Try this 30 day trial program to clean the registery
