I have a new PC with Windows XP, SoundBlaster Live w/digital, and Boston speakers. When PC was first booted up, it had sound. The next time it was turned on, no sound – neither system nor CD. Reloaded drivers, checked configuration, checked devicewas default and working, checked sound volume – everything OK. Vendor thought speakers were bad and sent new speakers. Installed new speakers – still no sound. Installed old speakers from prior PC (non digital), they worked. Reinstalled new speakers, enabled digital output, no sound. While trying to install a new faceplate on keyboard, speakers squawked. Pushed the volume buttons on keyboard, sound!! Turn off PC for the night, next day, no sound. Reload default drivers, reload SoundBlaster software, then there was sound again. Turn off PC for the night, next day, no sound. Reload SoundBlaster software, new XP driver from SoundBlaster website, no sound. Gave up! Why would the sound be lost once the PC is shutdown for the night?I am at my wit’s end.
