PC Speaker starts making a siren sound

By NESSUNO ·
When I start the computer up, it starts making a siren noise, sort of sounds like an ambulance and I have never seen this before, can somebody help me out?
and its not a ram problem because i removed each stick one at a time and the sound didn't goaway.
Thanks,
Mezz

Sounds like a wire or cable is hitting a fan, maybe the CPU fan. Open up the case and have a look.

It sounds to me like an Electolytic Capacitor in your power supply is about to ****. When (and if) it does, it will really make a mess of things.

As cheap as power supply's are these days, I'd just replaced the damn thing, and be done with it.Ckeers

I remember that some fans had a little circuit board connected to them and then the Speakers was connected to that. This was so that the if the Fan did not work anymore the speak would warn you with that siren sound. These usually came with the old Pentium PC (P1) and 486's. Does your PC actually come on ? If not. The best bet is to take out all the cards (including the VGA card) and see if the same sound comes out. Could be a VGA card not placed in correctly. Wiggle the card around (might not be making true contact - happens if the PC has a lot of dust inside - can prevent the points making contact)

Hope this helps - if noe please post more info on the make of your PC (ie: P1/PII etc ..)

Cheers ....

It is quite possible that your motherboard is detecting an overheating problem. I found a cached page in Google but the original appears to be gone. Here is what you can do:
Go to www.google.com
type in the search phrase "www.elsaco.com/epox/support/faq-50.html" (without the quotes)
Google should allow you to view the cached page.

Look into adding another fan to your case or improving the ventilation if overheating is the problem.
