PC won’t boot from CD drives

    Locked

I have a KT7A-RAID MB that won’t boot from CD. Bios is set to boot from CD first, floppy second, HD-0 third and other boot device enabled. Two CD’s, Creative 52x (CD-ROM) and Acer CD-RW 20x10x40, both spin up on start/reboot, but the PC fails to boot from these drives. Any suggestions on where to start?

Of course you are using a bootable cd?
Try another cd that boots in another machine.
Try disabling one of the cd players to see if it will work with only 1.
      These are internal cd’s?

Did you configure slave and master for the cd drives? are they on the same cable? put one as slave on the HD cable and the other on the secondary as master. Try switching boot order to floppy first then CD and HD. mostly though make sure you have the jumpers on the drives correctly configured for slave and master.

Let me guess, you are trying to install the operating system from cd..

So, let’s make it simple.. Disconnect the CDRW.. Make the 52x slave on the same IDE channel as the HD. and the try to boot. Or make the 52x Master on the secondary IDE and tryto boot. Once you get the OS installed you can connect CDRW and whatever to the system. I had this problem and striped the system down to the simplest form. HD CD VIDEO and then installed the OS..

      Luck..
