PC won’t boot to Windows XP after HDD partitioning

by elawson . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

Hello guru’s
I used Partition Magic to partition 30G of a 120G HDD for use as a “data” drive. There was 50G free space on the drive. Once I rebooted as Partition Magic requested to complete the partioning, the system no longer recognised “C” drive and kept rebooting. Safe mode doesn’t work either. PM’s support site shows the error (46) to be “problems locating a particular sector on the drive.”
Could anybody please help – I at least need to recover (copy) files from the drive.
Cheers,
Eric from Australia
