PCI 1394 card not communicating
LockedStarted when the 1394 cable in a 1394 External HD was unplugged and replugged in backwards. Before that, 1394 External HD AND a Sony DVD worked, even when attached to the card at the same time. No 1394 device has worked since.
Dell decided that the Firestorm PCI 1394 card was blown and replaced it. I ordered an ADS PCI Dual Link card because of its USB 2.0 capability.
Now, I can’t get the sytem to use any of the 1394 ports on either card. The USB 2.0 ports on the Dual Link work just fine!
THE CARD WAS INSTALLED, AS I ALWAYS DO, WITH ONLY ?EXPLORER? AND ?SYSTRAY? RUNNING.
Then:
1. Shut down and pulled the ADS
2. Restarted in Safe Mode & deleted ALL references to 1394 in Device Manager
3. Installed the ADS, ? NO JOY
4. Pulled ADS
5. Redid 1. & 2.
6. Installed the Firestorm card, ? STILL NO communication with the 1394 ports on either card.7. Redid 1. & 2. &3.
Device Manager shows:
1394 Bus Controller?/?TI OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
General: Working properly, exists in all profiles.
Settings: None checked
Driver: Microsoft (06/08/2000)
Resources: Use automatic settings, IRQ:10, no conflicts.BOTH THE CAMERA AND PYRO DRIVE KIT FUNCTION NORMALLY WHEN PLUGGED INTO A DELL INSPIRON 8100, RUNNING Windows ME 4.90.3000
