Use the original audio or video software to load the drivers onto the system,if you hae the sound card driver cd use it to add the drivers or check the type of sound card that you have and go to manufacturers web site to download drivers.Windows online update is not a very good option to locate the drivers

One of your devices does not have the correct driver installed.

Either your sound card, voice / speaker-phone modem, or other similar device has an improper / incompletely installed driver.

If device manager does not give you a clue as to which device it is, start with the last device that you installed.

Go to the manufactures web site. Look for either patches, or a newer version of the driver.
Follow their instructions for updating the driver.
You may have to remove the device from device manager,
shut down the system,
physically remove the device,
start the system,
install drivers,
shut down the system,
install the hardware,
start the system and complete the installation.

This also happens when the card is not properly plugged in. Please check to see your card sits properly in the holder.

First you need to determine if it is your PCI Sound Card or PCI Modem. If you have a voice modem it needs a multimedia driver. If your sound is working in windows it might not be the sound card. You can always ID both boards.

First pull out your PCI card and record the FCC or chip set number off of it. You can then put it back.

To find the manufacture of your card go to

http://www.plasma-online.de/index.html

Choose Identify Hardware by FCC number or by type if you have the chipset number.

This should give you the manufacturer. Then all you need to do is go get the driver from their web site.

Hope this helps.

You can try loading a generic driver from the web or use the OS cd and extract the file from it
There are also third party software such as SISOFT Sandra that can tell you what type of board you have, get it from the web
