PCI to ISA card
Lockedby gnutter · about 23 years, 10 months ago
I need a PCI to ISA daughter board.
I require my current ISA ATM cards for the new computers we shall soon purchase and do not want to shell out $300 x 20 odd bucks for newer cards.I dont want advice, I want an answer.

I’m sorry, it can’t be done cheaply. There is one possibility, however it is more costly than purchasing PCI cards. Some info can be found at:
http://www.plxtech.com/press/articles/e_buyers_news/isa.htmThe best solution, if it’s not too late,is to purchase motherboards that have a single ISA slot (they still make them and will continue to make them for some time). I assume only one ATM card is required per host machine. There is no speed gain by purchasing PCI cards or motherboards without ISA intregrated. Since you are still relient on legacy technology your only coarse of action is to puchase new computers with legacy compatibility.
ASUS, being one of the best motherboard manufactures has an extensive line of mobo’s, matching nearly all system requirments.
http://www.asus.com/products/Motherboard/index.htmlOf coarse, if you have no control over system requirments of the new systems, and are locked into a service agreement with a single company who cannot provide for your needs, your out of luck.
This is not advice, it’s an answer.

If someone can recommend a motherboard (socket A) with at least 3 PCI and 1 AGP slot. The points will go to them.

Obviously you aren’t able to obtain new computers with ISA slots built into them otherwise you wouldn’t have posted your message.
It will probably be cheaper to change motherboards in the PC’s to give you socket A compatibility with PCI and AGP slots. I’d recommend the ABit KT7. You can look at it here: http://www.abit-usa.com/english/product/motherboards/kt7.htm
Normally I’d recommend an Asus motherboard I’m not aware of any Socket A motherboard that has AGP, PCI & ISA all in one. However, I have used Abit motherboards in the past when I couldn’t get Asus and you should be OK.
By the way, the KT7 has 1 AGP, 1 ISA, and 6 PCI slots. 3 DIMMs and ATA/66 controllers, but anyway, check it out for yourself. They cost about $135 andthat seems cheaper than buying $300 PCI ATM cards.
http://www.mwave.com has them for a good price and they’ve treated me well in the past. Just do a search for KT7 and they will pop right up.
Of course, then you have to install 20 motherboards. . .
Heh, now I’m curious as to what you’ll do, let me know if you get the chance…

You strike me as the type that would prefer to make your own choices. http://www.slotA.com is dedicated to slot/socket A mobos.
