PCI to ISA ??

By nathan ·
I have a IBM Pc that has no ISA sockets in it and have a $25,000 sound control center for a recording studio that needs an ISA slot for a pc interface, I have seen adapters to turn a PCI socket into ISA before but cannot find them any more. Any ideas on where to get one?

I would think it would be worth considering another PC that would closer meet your needs, or possibly using another PC over a network - or Peer-to-Peer connection. A friend of mine does a lot of work with analog devices, and he is pretty much stuck with using machines that have ISA slots for his mucho expensivo legacy cards until similar PCI stuff is available - and until his company will approve the purchase of such stuff.

PCI to ISA ??

At the risk of being rejected out of hand like crsengland@aol.com was:

ISA is a dying bus. As such, it is not available on most PIII and equivalent machines. Not many after market manufacturers will be willing to produce a PCI to ISA adapter. That would require added a SouthBridge like chip on a PCI card with an ISA connector. That would take more space than is physically available inside the chassis.

Your only viable options are:
1. Upgrade your Sound Control Center's interface.
2.Replace the motherboard with one that meets your needs.
3. Use an older computer with ISA slots.

Go ahead and reject my answer, but it still won't change the fact about the ISA bus is dying and disappearing.
