    PCI versions

How can I determine witch kind of PCI slot does my PC supports.
I bought a PCI -> USB card, but it says that it needs to be installed on a PCI version 2.1 slot.

I am confused and afraid of burning the Mother board or the adapter.

Go to the motherboard manufacturer’s site and lookup the details on the board. Most of the manufacturer’s keep extensive documentation on the boards.

Whenever I need information on PCI cards, I start here:

Craig and friends stay on top of all things PCI.

Looking through the specification update document, the only issue I foresee is that if your BIOS does not fully support PCI 2.1 or above, you may not be able to take full advantage of all the features of your USB card.

If your PC is less than 4 years old, you should not have any problem.
