PDC NOT IN THE DOMAIN?

By boikanyo.geo ·
A PDC for an NT domain has been running fine until it was rebooted on the 11th July 2000.

The server was rebooted at 11:03am. When it came up, It was looking for a trusted domain and could not locate it.No User could see the PDC and the PDC could not see any other pc on the network.
I have done troubleshooting and consulted MS technet! no answer to this problem yet!

Further, the server manager has all PC's greyed out. If you select to see ALL and "Show Member of the Domain Only", The PDC disappears and only the greyed pc remain.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Can you think of anything that could have happened prior to it being rebooted? This is a really weird thing and it leads me to believe that maybe you're leaving some critical points out.

This can happen occasionally with work stations. The CID becomes corrupted or deleted. With those, I log on as an administrator and re-add the pc to the domain. Hope this helps.

Does it say it cannot find the PDC when running srvmgr on the server? Are you saying that it does not appear at all in srvmgr? Are you running WINS? Is it multi-homed? Did the netlogon service fail? What's in the event log? Why did you reboot it? More information would be helpful. There are a lot of things can mess it up.

Can any PC's be authenticated? Can you promote a BDC to PDC? IF it is a domain synchronization issue try synching the domain in server manager. There is a resource utility called NETDOM that you may want to look into for re-establishing the secure communication with a domain controller.
