Adobe Acrobat PDF file was created from a scanned document. The link to the document was place in Blackboard, a web based program for delivering course content.
For this particular document, clicking the link starts opening the file, and when the “thermometer” is just shy of completion, Adobe Reader opens with nothing in it. An error message appears “There was an error opening this file. File cannot be found.”
There is no problem opening Office documents. There seems to be no problem opening PDF files which were created in the original app by printing to Adobe Acrobat Standard ver 7.
For the offending PDF file, at the initial prompt which appears after clicking the PDF file link, if you choose Save (to desktop or My Computer) and then Open the file all is well.
But I need Open to work.
Adobe Acrobat has information about this for Adobe Reader version 6 (just update it), but nothing on version 7 (which I have updated).
Any suggestions from all you smart people out there?
