I am currently working in a junior networking position after working in othere areas of IT for the past 3 years. i am working with Performance Monitor at the moment, and although i know that it is a good tool, I am ready to pull my hair out at the moment. Since I have started looking, I have been able to find quite a bit of information anout Performance Monitor. How to use it, what counters are good fro tracking what, etc. Unfortunately, none of this has really helped me with what I need todo. There doesn’t seem to be anything out there that really tells you how to analyze the data once you have exported it in to Excel for example. (running Perfmon in log format) As far as I can tell, this is the only way that you can really get long term information, but I have no idea what to do with it now. I can bring it bacj in to Perfmon and chart it, but I need to figure out how to analyze and summarize all of the information so that I can track patterns, trends, bottlenecks, etc. If any one has any ideas that would help, or you’re just feeling similar frustration and want to vent, I’ll look forward to your comments.
