Permission to access file on other hard drive

By heidiis45 ·
I had to take my hard drive out of my laptop because the motherboard was ruined and I hooked up into an external hard drive to access and remove the files. I hooked it up to another computer and seem to have access to all the program files etc, but not the documents folder-where everything I want is. Does anyone know how to gain access to this folder? It says access is denied. I use XP home edition.

so um open your computer in safe mode log on to administrator and click on the file you want to acces,(open properties) click add and then type the name of your user. then check the box that says full control and vwola you are done (but this only works if you are using windows xp pro)

If you are logged into your computer as a local admin then you can take ownership of the files on the other drive.
