Permissions

Why is it that whenever i willl erase a folder
from our ftp site it always displays "550
Permission Denied" is the problem in our
server or in the server that i access....i can
erase the content of the folder one by one but
not in all at the same time.....thanks a lot and
more power...

I presume your are doing your erasing via an ftp client. Basically, you cannot erase any folder that have contents on it. Also FTP standard implementation do not allow wildcard deletions. Some FTP clients will allow you to do a wildcard delete but in reality, it does the looping of deleting each file one at a time for you.

Also, if the administrator set the folder bit to 644 or 600, but the files to 755 or 777, all you can delete are the files not the folders.

yes i am erasing files from our ftp site abroad and i know i
log in as an administrator with full access, and before, i
use to erase these folders that we use to acccess files all
at once.....not until it displays "550 permission
denied.....and until now...

I agree with the 1st answer. I use WS-FTP from www.ipswitch.com and it makes FTP work like a windows folder by allowing you to select folders and files in groups and delete them all at once.

There are othe FTP clients that work like this also, this is just the one I'm most familiar with and like a lot.
