Permissions on network shares

By ms7212 ·
I recently ran into a problem after removing a domain with AD and putting in a workgroup enviornment. All XP users have a folder on the W2k server to store files. Since removing the domain and putting in the workgroup some of these user folders are not accessible. Some not all! That's the odd part. I read something on MS about efs encrypted filed, but I do not see any encrytion. I have checked the permissions and they seem to be fine. Each user is in the users group and users group had full control over these folders. I appreciate any help on this.

The problem can be from the clients computer. In order to give permission to the users to access the workgroup server, the client computer must have the same workgroup with the workgroup server. The user must also login to their computer with the same username and password assign to them in the workgroup server.

If still doesn't work, it could be the profiles setting. Try to do some troubleshooting by creating the users profiles at other computer with the same username and password and try to access to the folders again.
