Setup: Have a directory shared on a WinNT 4.0 Sp6a server. I’ve created a global group called “Emps” which has NTFS permissions of Change for all folders and files in the share. The users have the shared directory mapped as a network drive on their Win98SE computers.
Problem: There are about 60 folders on the root of the shared directory. Recently, some of these root folders were accidentally moved into other folders, causing a panic among users who couldn’t find the folders which had been moved.
The Questions: How can I lock down the folders in the root of the shared directory so that they cannot be moved, but still allowing users to change, create, and delete the subfolders and files? How should NTFS permissions be applied?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
