Photos shows X mark when trying to open it.

Hi,

i formatted my pen drive, later when i realized that i had some important photos. i recovered my data using data recovery software, it did recovered my pictures, but most of my pictures are not showing any images (showing X mark when opening).
please help.

Are incomplete and while the Headers may have been recovered the actual Data in the Files has not.

What did you use to attempt the recovery?

Appreciate your response dude, but data recover is what left me with such files.
My images are *.jpg, i m able to see the file size, but the picture is not visible. please help

That is the question you need to understand that some Recovery Tools are better then others and there are many of them.

With Davory I have a lot of Partial Files Recovered which do exactly the same thing you need to go through individual recovered files and delete what is incomplete.

Of course if you wrote the recovered Files to the same drive that they came off you could very easily have overwritten the existing Files and only recovered the File Headers.

With any Data Recovery you [b]Never[/b] write Data to the Drive that you are recovering from. So what exactly is it you have done here? We need to know so we can help you if it’s at all possible here. 😉
