I’ve got an NT 4.0 network with WINS and DNS running smoothly. Now, I’m going to ask a stupid question….
If I’m on a client, and I do ping -a IP , the response is a computer name, not a FQDN. How do I change this? I have a product that, by default, talks to a server named “COMPUTERNAME”
They say that my network needs to automatically resolve “COMPUTERNAME” to “COMPUTERNAME.my company.com” automatically. Now, just putting that server into DNS doesn’t do it…
Right now my networkdoesn’t do that. And I don’t know why. Any ideas? Let me know when I’ve confused you all…
