Ping-TCP/IP tools not working

When i try and run the ping tool in w2k i get the following response: Response timed out.

I have tryed tralling the microsoft website, but as am yet unable to find a solution.

I am also having probs connecting to ISP (not a modem problem), and am guessing that the two probs are connected.

I would appreciate any assistance
