Ping Tool

By Vawns ·
Does anyone know of a ping tool that uses the IP Address or hostname (within an organisation) to determine the username of the person logged in on that PC?

Once you have determined the IP address of the host, use the following command to get the computer name:

nbtstat -A ip address

Unfortunately at the low level that PING works, there is no method for determining the username of the user logged in to the workstation. That information is not broadcast on a network like a computer name or IP address normally would be.

Hope that helps!
