ping vpn by name returns inaccurate ip

Hi all. First of all let me explain my network. I think it’s a simple enough error to diagnose but am unable to do so. Network – Win2k3 SP4 DC (FQDN: test.testdom.company.local) with 2 NICS. NIC1 – LAN 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0. NIC2 – ROUTER 192.168.10.2/255.255.255.0. DHCP (192.168.1.10-192.168.1.80), DNS, ROUTER @ 192.168.10.1. Server has VPN access through RRAS using static address pool 192.168.1.81-192.168.1.100. When I configure clients to log in through VPN everything works except for one thing. Pinging the VPN server by 192.168.1.1 returns correct replies whereas if I ping the server “test” or using the FQDN “test.testdom.company.local” I get replies of IP 192.168.10.2. That is inaccurate as although the NIC with 192.168.10.2 reside on the server, I want the reply to “ping test” to be 192.168.1.1. What am I doing wrong?
