    Pinting Notification from NT PDC

    Hi I wonder of anyone knows how to turn the following service off, this is the pop up box I get on all Win 2k pro machines when they print to a HP Laserjet 4100 (connected to PDC and not network enabled with its own NIC)

    Subj: **PRINTING NOTIFICATION**

    Print job 147 has finished printing on HP LaserJet 4100 PCL 6 (LTP1:)
    Job was queued to HP LaserJet 4100 PCL 6 on 10/24/2001 10:56AM
    size of job is *** bytes
    OK

    does anyone know who to turn this messenger service off ? Its rather annoying when you are printing 1000s of pages.
    HP couldn’t help me and i’ve looked in the printer properties on both the PDC and all the w/stations. This does not happen on 98se, 95 w/stations.

      Assuming your running an NT4 PDC do the following:

      Browse your PDC on the network neighbourhood and open the ‘Printers’ folder in the top level browse windows. Open the ‘File’ menu on your browse window and choose ‘Server Properties’. On the properties window open the advanced tab and switch off the ‘Notify when remote documents are printed’ option. You’ll get a message about restarting the server when you hit OK. Just ignore this and restart the server’s spooler service.

      NB: You’ll only see the printers folder when browsing the server with an admin account.

      Highlight the printer (in the print server) click on file\server properties then click on advance tab, uncheck the “notify when remote documents are printed”

      this should solved you problem.

      the points allocation didn’t work for some reason and it said answer was rejected, I selected acceptable sorry again!!
      It gave all the points to the other responder
