We have a computer that is infected with a virus. When we boot it up we get a message that says Pinwheel Trojan SOCX. Is there anything we can do to eradicate this or is the computer finished?

1. Do you have any anti- virus software. If so ensure you have the latest veriosn, and get it to do a full scan on every file on the PC.
2. If that does not find the problem, contact your virus supplier with the details of what you are getting - they should be abel to advise you.
3. If you don't have anti-virus software then GET SOME NOW.
4. This may not actually be a virus or trojan - I can't find a mention of it on the Vet or Symantec sites. It may simply be a message that someone has put in deliberatley to make you think it has a virus/trojan.
I had offered the same answers as your first three to my co-worker who came to me with this problem. I'm still awaiting his response. I hadn't thought of your fourth and if it turns out to be a chameleon, the points are yours. Thank you for the prompt response.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
