Hi,
Using a PL/SQL code how do I find out if an Oracle Database is running or no? Can someone help me with writing a PL/SQL code, please..

If the database is not running you will not be able to connect inorder to run any PL/SQL code. You will need to trap the error code when the connection attempt is made.

This is how I check if an Oracle DB is up. I run this on a unix system.

sqlplus userid/password <<++


select * from dual
exit
++
