Planning AD Infrastructure...

By Fdurham ·
I am creating this discussion to collaborate with my fellow IT people. I am in the process of designing AD for my company. My worry is should I create 1 Domain or 2 Domains in my AD. The 1 Forest would have all the computers and users in the samedomain. But if I do a 2 Domain design, I would put all servers in one domain (Master Root), and users and other devices in the sub-domain. The reason for this is to present the company for a easy time should they persue the opportunity to open another location, plus seperate my servers from the users.

What do you think?

MT Root.

You may want to create an Empty Root, this provides addition function for security but also requires some additional iron. You don't have to worry about resource domains, you can create a GPO for your servers, setup up the eventlog sizes, audit policies, publish out the adminpak(sp specific), res kit, support tools(sp specific).
