For several weeks now, my custom-built PC (ASUS motherboard, XP Pro, 4 GB RAM), when playing (or recording in Roxio Easy Media PLayer 9.0) any type of audio file, I hear playback at a higher pitch (makes voices sound like Alvin the Chipmunk). The tempo has not changed, just the pitch, approximately (for you musician types) a perfect fourth higher than normal.
Can anyone offer suggestions as to how to correct this (without re-installing XP — the current installation was only 5 months ago)?
All ideas are welcome, as well as questions from anyone reading this post. I’m totally puzzled.
P.S. Everything else works like new.
