1) For our info... what operating system are you using?

Just some things to check...

2) Are these Store Bought Music CD's or home burned ones? Some Home Burned CDs will not play in certain drives... very random...

3) Do DVD's start automatically when you insert them into the drive?

4) Do you have the Windows CD Player or another 3rd party CD Player installed?

5) Do you have a CD Player installed on your system, as well? If so... does the Music CD Play in it?

Tell us more !

If it works on pre-recorded audio CDs or application CDs, then you got your recorded music on different format other than wav format. You have to convert your music to wav format. Try a third party software.

Are you using a software player to play these CD's (such as winamp), or are you pushing "play" to play the PC. Pioneer drives interpret this as a "direct to hardware" play, and this calls for an audio cable to be between your DVD and your soundcard (I've got a DVD105S - pioneer and had the same problem).

When you look at the back of your DVD-drive, you'll notice a very small/flat connector next to the IDE-cable. If there's no cable in it: get one. Otherwise, use software for your music (it might be better, since winamp and alikes mostly add some "life" to your speakers).
