Playing ripped DVDS on Dell MediaDirect

by angelia.hagopian . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

I recently bought a new Dell XPS 1530 that came with Dell’s MediaDirect software loaded onto the HPA section of the drive. It’s allows me to boot only a small portion of the computer if all I want to do is listen to music or watch a movie, thus saving on battery power. Great concept, however, I have a problem.
It does not want to show my ripped dvds on my hard drive. Now I had this problem with vistas media center, where it did not show or play any ripped DVDS, but that was solved with a simple registry edit that i found at this website

Does anybody else have this problem with Dell MediaDirect or suggest a similar fix? I have already contacted dell support and they were no help at all. They suggested converting my ripped dvds into a format other than .vob, but were talking a couple 100 gigs of video which I would like to keep at its current quality.
