Please Help w Ethernet Hub Between Host (Vista) & Client (XP) Computers

by susan.forister . Updated 16 years, 8 months ago

Hi All,

I’m a total newb at networking 🙁 and have searched for days on various forums for answers and have tried everything I could find on the subject.

After my first USB wireless internet device (Verizon) was damaged when packed incorrectly, I lost all the connection configurations that my friend had set up for me when I set up the new one. I reestablished an internet connection on this computer through Windows without using the VZ Access Manager app, and would like to connect my daughter’s computer (via Ethernet cable and hub) to the internet through this computer. In short, I just want to share this connection with her computer via an Ethernet hub. I probably need step-by-step instructions, since I know nothing.

I’m hoping with your help I can figure it out without having to bug my friend yet again. This is very humiliating considering I’ve programmed a database for Cummins Inc. and can’t even figure out this problem.

Some possibly important notes:

*I do not have a static IP address, unfortunately.

*My hub is a Linksys EFAHO5W.

*At this point, LAN connections I’ve configured (attempted to anyway) will send packets but not receive them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated…sorry this post is so long!

Thanks in advance,

~Susan
