I am a novice with computers, and came here looking for help. Recently, my Dell d505 laptop crashed. I have the HD with reason to believe the files can be recovered. Someone suggested I buy a 2.5 USb Caddy, but I measured the HD at just under 3″. In addition, I have thought about purchasing a used d505 (since I need a new computer regardless). Would it be possible to purchase another d505 and just insert my old HD, or is this a really silly thing to do?
