Pls help…

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody can give me a pointer or two regarding
an intel pentium mmx 166mhz system. This system always hang after
about 5-10 mins running an application from the hard disk, but not
when it is in idling condition or when installing applications from
the cd-rom drive.Power supply is having an output of 230W and
its fan is still turning whenever the system hang. I also
notice that the CPU fan is also turning whenever the system hang.
Pressing ctrl, alt and delete does not help at all, I have to
power off and restart system again.Any suggestion is greatly
appreciated.Thanks.

The more information you could provide for your problem the better the help can be please include your OS when the last time your system worked properly and any programs you have installed also are you running any anitvirus software?

i cant remember when was the last time my system worked properly. i have actually re-format my hd and reinstall win98(the first edition). before, it is running on win95c. But, problem still persists.
Yes, i do have norton antivirus application installed and running. pls advise.

1. Reseat RAM chips, if it still there goto2.
2. Reseat CPu chip, if it still there goto3.
3. Replace the CPU fan, if it …goto4.
4. Try different H.D., if it… goto5.
5. Now we know, it is not the software or the hard drive, I would try the power supply next because it is cheaper than the RAM chip.

I am not sure if I saw the question being asked but what kind of applications are you running on this 166mmx.

Applications which are installed include MS Office 97 professional edition, Acrobat Reader 4.0, PCAnywhere 8.0 and also, The Webshots Desktop…thats about all.
