plz help

By AshHimi ·
Hello, my name is Arash. I have a brand Dell Latitude D600 and i had to reinstall windows XP Home Edition on it. Now i need to do a couple of things. First, i need to activate windows which shouldn't be a problem but i had an old laptop that i installed windows on also. So, the key that came with the disc doesn't work for the activation anymore, is there any way around calling microsoft? Second, my speaker's drivers went out when i reinstalled windows and i can't seem to find them on Dell's website, is there any place i can get them. Please send correspondance A.S.A.P.

Thanks guys,

You can only have XP installed on 1 computer per license key.

If you need to have XP on 2 computers, you need either another copy of XP, or a second license.

For your speakers, you likely need this driver:

It is posted on Dell's US site.

you wont find many of the drivers through the knowelegebase. Drivers for almost all systems can be had by signing up at for premier support, This initially looks like a pay type setup but it is not. All drivers are available by entering the serial number or model of the computer, selecting download, browsing for the specific driver you are looking for and downloading it.

No Problem.
Call Microsoft.
Tell them that you want to reinstall Win9x on the old laptop, and XP on the new one.
See what they say.
You will need the Win9x Serial Number.

This problem, with sound driver failure, is common under XP.
If the driver update does not work,
there is another update to XP comming out in Febuary. Stay tuned.
Regards, Chris
