Point To Point Wireless AP’s and RADIUS SERVICES

by darrylb . Updated 20 years, 9 months ago

I have wireless setup in a point to point configuration that has 5 computers connected to an access point utilising a basic switch, the switch connects to one of the AP’s and that AP has communicates with another AP that is wired to the network.

At present they are using WEP “encryption” (BAD practice in rtelaton to security). We are endeavouring to switch it all over to WPA (we have 2 other similar access points).

Using radius services i need to add MAC addresses to allow access. I cannot, if possible, have the network segments utilising the wireless technology to be down for any extended period.

The question:
a: Do i need to add ALL the computer MAC addresses behind the AP’s as WELL as the AP’s.

b: Just the computers

c: Just the AP’s

The access points are Dlink DWL2100AP’s and they support WPA. Although at present the WPA option is grayed out.

I have been looking but can find nothing that gives me this info… Even a link to DECENTLY informative site would do.

I don’t have time to pore over hundreds of pages of technet waffle to find the information i need. Nor do i get paid enough to inflict the kind of psychological damage to myself voluntarily.
