Points for Tim Walsh

Hi Tim,

Just for your information, the Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles that I refer to when someone has a problem with moving a hard drive with either Windows 2000 or XP on them are:

W2K: 249694
XP: 314070

These are step by step quides on how to move a hard drive with either OS installed to new hardware.

They apparently were lost when Microsoft changed their Knowledge Base Article numbering system several months ago.

Fortunately, I had saved copies of each to my hard drive before they were lost, so I am able to share them as needed.

Chas

Thanks,
314082 was the only one I had ever found that gave you anything more than "When changing a disk from one computer to another, use the same hardware to preclude problems."

I also have to try the solution given in 287043 (thanks to ybnormal) the next time I run across this problem.

I don't suppose I could talk you into emailing me the text of the two KB articles you mention (I'll even let you keep the points)?

I firmly believe there is no such thing as having access to too much info.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the response Tim.

I sent the articles to the e-mail address that is your user name. If that does not work, you can contact me via the Peer Directory, or thechas2000@yahoo.com and I can resend them.

Trust me, I have more than enoughpoints, so they are yours.

Chas
