I’m looking for a low cost solution to securely connect two sites. In the past I would have used two Netopia routers to create an encrypted PPTP channel to link the sites. Having been out of the loop for a few years I revisited this solution only to find that Netopia has been gobbled up and that PPTP, while simple to setup, despite its point to point encrypted channel, was never very secure.
Could someone tell me what the contemporary equivalent is to PPTP for this type of solution?
I see OpenVPN but I would much prefer an appliance level solution that can be setup and checked up on occasionally. Would Cisco RV0xx Series Routers be appropriate? If so, which ones?
