Pop email for Exchange?

By picturethat ·
How do you set up exchange 5.5 to get mail from a pop email account? If the client owns the domain but is using pop for several account names, what is the best way to collect this mail from those account and distribute it with exchange, because the clients are using proxy.

Pop email for Exchange?

Not sure we have enough information to answer but here is food for thought. As far as I know Exchange is not a POP email client, though POP clients can retrieve mail from Exchange. If you are talking about Internet Email, then usually you would use Internet Connector and retrieve the mail via SMTP for the clients who could then POP it off Exchange.

Another route, and what we do, is configure Outlook to retrieve POP mail, and then because Outlook is using Exchange Mailboxes, the mail is stored in the Exchange mail box.

I am not sure of the implications of Proxy for this, or what the originating source of the email is, (an ISP?)so some more information would help everyone give you an answer.

Small Business Server includes a POP3 connector which will do what you want.

Unfortunately, the non SBS versions don't include this option, although I believe there are 3rd party solutions, but I can't offer any url's.
