Populating user's outlook 2000 calendars

By nbcasey ·
We are looking for a way to populate around 1800 user's calendars with corporate events, corp holidays, etc.. What we are trying to avoid is having to have them click accept on all of these events. Turning on auto accept is not satisfactory due to its unreliability. The auto-booking scripts from www.slipstick.com do not fit our needs either. We would like to be able to do this through some type of form or even third party software. Clients use outlook 2000 with an exchange 2000 back end. Any ideas?

Populating user's outlook 2000 calendars

Have you considered creatig custom a Outlook.txt file for everyone and then pushing it out to each of the clients?

Here's info about outlook.txt from MS:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q274089

Essentially, you just add something like this to the file:

[Company Event] 3
Earnings Report, yyyy/mm/dd
Pot Luck Luncheon, yyyy/mm/dd
Holiday Party, yyyy/mm/dd

then a separate heading for company holidays. Users add these holidays to their calendars same way they add national or religious holidays.

We are looking for something that can update calendars when ever we want without impacting the users. This method would still require the users to add the "holidays" again and again as we add things. Thanks for the suggestion though.

How does this sound...

ENTERPRISE CALENDAR

Update to the Exchange 2000 version of this sample application by Tom Howe that shows how to synchronize data from users' folders to a central public folder automatically. The included Office Calendar Read Me.doc paper explains the application in detail.

This really isn't what we are looking for. What we need is a way to populate user's calendars with appointments/all day events without user intervention. We want a one stop shop for their information.
