    Port Configuration/Printer Problem

    Locked

    by sreichel ·

I have Windows2000 with a HP P1000 PhotpSmart Printer. I recently had my computer in for repair and had to re-install my printer when it came back. I had installed Broderbund Print Shop Deluxe and had problems with printing, so I uninstalled it, but ot caused problems with my printer, so I uninstalled and re-installed my printer drivers and software according to instructions in the manual. Now my printer installs as a Dot4 and it should be on the LPT1 port(configured as ECD…?) It prints in bklue tones no matter what I do. I have un-and-re-installed it a few times -same thing. HELP!!! What can I do? I don’t want all my pictures printing in Blue and I can’t correct it no matter WHAT I do.

I beleive the HP1000 supports both USB & LPT. You can switch the port back to LPT in the printers folder. Rt click the printer, click properties – change the port.
-To elimate software as the problem install a new printer – choose HP550 (it will print with all hp inkjet printers) set it up on LPT1 and try printing. If it still prints blue then something is wrong with the printer or connection (possibly ink) because the software driver is eliminated.

It is more like the problem of the printing head. Try to use a cloth or tissue with a few drops of cleaning fluid to clean it.
