Port 25 for SMTP
Port 1225 for the Information Store
1226 for the directory on the Exchange server.

I think that is it.
If otto3@home.com posts here please give him half the points he told me the ports for my OWA question last week.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as my colleague Mr. Wurthmann suggests. By default, Exchange uses TCP port 135 for the RPC Endpoint Mapper (and port 25 for SMTP as he correctly pointed out) but the other two ports are dynamically assigned, session by session, to random ports above 1023.

To use a firewall, you have to change this behavior to use static ports. The ports 1225 and 1226 are given as hypothetical examples in one of Microsoft's published articles (Q155831 on Technet) but theycould be anything and the specific values have to be mapped into the registry of the Exchange Server. From a security perspective, I would choose two other ports so no one picks up a clue from port scanning (hackers read TechNet too...).

If you're setting up a firewall, you'll want to read the article cited above as well as Q148732. Both are available at www.microsoft.com/technet.

regards!

paul
