Portforwarding with Linksys Router

by toolmanz . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

Here is the basic layout that we are trying to get accomplished:

We have a small network with about 18 systems. (All Win 2000)(1 Server)

We have a DSL connection with 3 dedicated IP Addresses.

We use remote software that allows the IT members to connect to any machin in the office through the IP Address and a port combination.

ex. 192.168.1.1:5000 PC1
192.168.1.2:5001 PC2 (just an example)

The problem we have is this we are using Lynksys BEFSR41 4 port routers, which have the limitation of only forwarding 10 ports.

What we would like to do is hook up three routers and have each one use the a dedicated IP address from the DSL connection.

I have gotten it working to a point but then the routers start to lock up and need to be rebooted (hourly at best)

Here is the scenario DSL connection comes into a 100 meg switch (through the uplink) then it is sent to each of the routers into their wan connection from ports 1, 2 and 3.

The routers are then uplinked to the network from their uplink connection to the main network switch.

Anyone get this done, or have any other ideas?

Thanks
