Possible questions on an IT Tech Support job?

By jdfrost ·
I have an interview of a Tech Suppport job this week - being new to the IT field, I would like to know what others have been asked when they applied for a Tech Support IT job. Thanks -

I was asked about myself.
I was also given a few technical situations and asked how I would handle them.
Just be honest in all respects, No employer wants to hire an untruthful person.
Good luck.

Can-do approach

Just never say "can't do" and follow "can-do"

Ensure them you are keen to stay and learn new things while giving your best.

Be polite and patience.

Let them speak first and then you do.

Get to know everything about company.

Learn more about job role and its technical requirements. For example if they have asked for 'good understanding of networks" then you should read about network.

Last but not least always smiling.

Good Luck !

Don't Know? Then Ask

by BobTheITBuilder In reply to Can-do approach

They may give you a technical scenario (You are at a clients PC) that may confuse you or stump you. The thing to do is ask them to clarify. If you are still unsure then say "I would phone a technical collegue and get advice before commiting myself". This shows them that you are prepared to be a team member and that you are not afraid of asking for help. Remember, you do not know their standards/working practices yet, asking is a part of learning
