Power

by jwpluto In reply to Power

A little more detail would be helpful to assist in troubleshooting, but here's some suggestions in no particular order.

Remove power from the floppy drive and plug it to one of the CD drives. If it works, the power plug that was connected to the CD is definately bad. If it doesn't work, you could have a drive problem. So, swap around the power connectors and see what kind of results you get. One combination or another, you'll be able to determine for certain of there is a power plug problem or a drive problem, or possibly both.

If you've determined that some of your power plugs are dead, the connectors inside the plugs are probably broken or messed up. You can purchae Y adapters for power plugs to supplement the ones that don't work.Just plug the new Y adapters to the plugs you know to be working and that should be the easiest fix.

Depending on the machine, a replacement power supply isn't real expensive and they're usually easy to remove and replace. Make sure it's got enough plugs on it for your PC configuration, add some Y adapters. Buy a 200 to 240 watt power supply. If you don't know where to get one, comment to me what your make and model is and I will try to help you locate a replacement.

good luck

Hi when you say no power I guess that there is no led showing and the open draw does not work. If so did you connect the power leads as well as the data cable ie the ones with 4 wires

1 x Yellow
2 x Black
1 x Red

This is assuming that the computer is running ok otherwise.
Hope this helps
