Power jack problem

My power jack is very loose and i believe this is the cause of the ac adapter error when i boot up my dell d600. ive asked about fixing it but what i am wondering now is if getting a docking station will charge my battery and fix the adapter problem

The problem is due to stress on the component ...

Each and every time the jack is inserted or removed from the socket, its connection to the motherboard is placed under an element of strain.

Due to the passage of time this problem eventually worsens to the point you have now reached. If you were to attach a docking station and NEVER REMOVE IT you might never see the symptoms ever again.

However, if the looseness of the power jack is now so obvious, it is only a matter of time before the connection finally parts company with the motherboard.

Any sudden movement while the jack is connected could be the last connection possible.

You should really get it mended / replaced.
