When I format a hard drive and install a clean OS in Win XP Pro, the Power Management settings default to Always On (turn off monitor 20 minutes, turn off hard disks never, standby never, hibernation disabled). However when we get a new PC with the OS preinstalled, it has settings preconfigured such as standby 15 minutes, hibernate 15 minutes. I always change the settings so the machine won’t go to sleep, but when a new user logs on for the first time, the default 15 minute sleep settings take effect for that user. There has to be a registry tweak to make the default settings Always On, but I can’t seem to find it. Any help will be much appreciated.
