Powerpoint Bullets & Graphics

By srpd ·
I would like to create a bulleted list, (in 2000), set the animation to gray out after each bullet - and - show a graphic with the text which disappears on the appearance of the next bullet. I am currently making lists of 1 bullet, and timing graphics to make it work, but it is time consuming and the timing doesn't quite work. Is there a better way?

If you are making lists of 1 bullet, you can group the graphic together with the 1 bullet list and that way, they will both come in together, as well as disappear on the appearance of the next bullet.

This will help your timing because the graphic and the bulleted item will appear together, as one.

Or you can check your settings to make sure that you have the timings set to zero and automatic, which will make the graphic come in automatically (without clicking) right after the bulleted item.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion, but if I group the text and graphic, they will both either grey out or disappear. My goal is for the text to grey out and the graphic to disappear on the same mouse click (or close enough to not confuse the viewer whenthe next text bullet and graphic appear)

If you have a list of, say, three items, create three slides. Show the first item with a graphic. Then, with no transition show the second slide. The first item is gray the second item has a graphic. The third slide has all three points; the first two are gray an the last point gets the graphic. From the audiances point of view the points will gray out the graphics will disappear and the new point will appear.

I am not aware of a way to make the graphic dissapear as suggested but you can cover up the graphic with a square or oval etc., from draw or autoshapes. The square you use to cover up the graphic should use the fill/color/texture of the existing background. You can set the cover up graphic to appear, dissolve etc. and the covered graphic will appear to do the same only reversed of course. if you construct the slide correctly and set the timings correctly. I do believe that you will have to useindividualtext boxes though because of the timing feature being tied to the animation feature of the object in PowerPoint. This isn't much of an improvement but I do believe the timings will work correctly this way.
