PowerPoint2000 invalid page fault

By Hal Morgan ·
I have a customer running Win98 with
Office2000. When he attempts to exit
Powerpoint, he receives the following message:
"POWERPNT caused a invalid pagefault in
module Kernal32.dll at 017f:bff9db61"

I have run office repair, removed office
completely and re-installed. Still getting
message. This is only happening in
Powerpoint. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks

PowerPoint2000 invalid page fault

by astrocat123 In reply to PowerPoint2000 invalid pa ...

this is not a office2000 problem it is a problem with windows it self after a while windows will become unstable and start to cause page faults especially if this person installs and unistalls a lot of different programs.DLL'S (dynamic link librarys)are shared across the system by many different programs. so when you have a page fault in the kernal32.dll windows has become unstable the best sugestion is to reinstall windows if you are unfamillar with doing this go to microsoft.com and print outarticle#Q255867 from the microsoft data base this tells you step by step on how to reinstall windows 98.you will need to make a windows 98 boot disk to use the fdisk tool to reformat the hard drive then reinstall windows 98. you should do this at laest 1 time a year to clean the errant files that build up in the windows components. hope this helps
