I have two users that are unable to use the Org Chart function of MS PowerPoint 97 on their local PC?s. However, when logged on as Admin on these local PC?s, I AM able to use this feature. These two computers are running on Windows 2000 Pro on a Windows 2000 server network. Other 9x/NT computers on the same W2k network do not have this problem.
The error msg that I get tells me ?THE SERVER APPLICATION, SOURCE FILE, OR ITEM CAN?T BE FOUND. YOU SHOULD REINSTALL THE SERVER APPLICATION.?
I have reinstalled PowerPoint on the server, but I wouldn?t think that that should be an issue. I have reinstalled PPT on the PC?s from the server and I have reinstalled PPT at the local computers from the CD. Either way, I get the same results and thesame message.
I have totally uninstalled MS Ofc97, ran the Eraser97 util, then got into RegEdit and further cleaned up. Then reinstalled MS Ofc97. Prob still persists.
I gave one user full access permissions to her local C:\Windows [and subfolders] folder and this had no effect on the problem. I then gave this user full access permissions to her local C: drive and this again had no effect on the problem. I then went to the server and started giving the user various W2K admin rights. Noneof these admin rights allowed this user to use the org chart feature. Only when I gave this user Domain Admin rights, was I able use the org chart feature while logged in as the user. I DID REVOKE THE DOMAIN ADMIN RIGHTS when finished with this experiment.
I checked that “Everyone” could “log on locally?.
I don?t know enough about W2k access permissions to understand this, but I?m almost certain it?s a W2k issue. Any help at this point would be appreciated.
