PPP roblems with Cisco ACS

Just installed Cisco ACS server to manage our 3 main 3660 routers.

Intermitently any ISDN dial in users cannot be authenticated via PPP. They connect in at Layer 1, but no data is sent and the link drops after the 120 second timeout. It is very random and happens multiple times every hour.

1. Try to login to that routers (preferable trhough console port). Turn on logging to console or, better, to any Syslog server (Unix server or PC Syslog application like Kiwi Syslog). Try to play with different logging levels (sometimes "Warning" level is enough, but sometimes you may need to turn "Debug" mode, but it may give too much information in time).

2. You may use "debug" commands to see what is happening during "good" call and during "bad" call. Do it "one instance in time", for example, try to debug ISDN interface first, isn't it "user connectivity issue". Then try debug authentication process. Use Cisco's website to look error codes and events. May be you lose connectivity to your ACS server.

3. Look ASC server logs. Checkif you have all logging events. Do you have any suspicious records in your log?

General rule: try to isolate problem by checking each component separately. If you don't have any error messages at ACS server itself, just don't look at it during "investigation". But usually, after you will turn router's logging function on you will have enough information where to dig.
